New Years Eve Fairmont Grand Del Mar

Sequin pants new years eve outfits

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday.  I headed down to Miami and will post pictures from there soon but New Years Eve is here and its time to get ready!  From the East to the West coast, celebrations will be abundant and the bubbly will be flowing.  One such party will be held at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, CA, one of the city's most luxurious hotels.  With its gorgeous landscapes and scenic views, this is the perfect location to ring in the new year.

This New Year's Eve outfit is both fun and flirty.  The sequin pants is a great take on formal NYE attire.  Paired with this strapless leather top creates a sexy look that is great for this venue.  The white blazer is a welcome contrast to the navy and black and is helpful when the temperatures drop later in the night.  New Years Eve at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is an event not to be missed.

Yellow and White

Yellow and grey Astoria in Heels

I know that in New York, most people tend to wear darker colors.  In my current office, I notice it especially with almost everyone wearing either black or grey every day.  I know this is seasonal but I just can't do it.  I like bright colors and need to wear them year long, especially when it is sunny outside.  These warm sunny days call for warm sunny colors!  And we all know I love to wear white!  I mixed these two summery colors with this light grey Theory blazer and my new Jetsetter bag from Henri Bendel.  This achieves a casual Friday office look and a brunching with friends weekend look.  Don't push your bright colored pieces to back of the closet, bring them to the forefront this fall and winter season!

Andrea

Astoria Finds: The Brass Owl

I am a big fan of shoes and also of boutiques so when I found The Brass Owl, I was estatic!
This is the cutest boutique that is located on Ditmars Blvd between 36th and 37th streets.  This shop is flanked by great restaurants and is very close to the local train.  They have an assortment of shoes, jewelry, candles, and so many other cute gifts you can find for your friends and yourself.  They carry those unique items that are perfect for your holiday gifts.  In addition, you are finding quality items here as well as items made from local artists.

The Brass Owl also offers events such as workshops and trunk shows.  The owner, Nicole, is so friendly and helpful.  She is literally one of the nicest people I have met here in Astoria.  She has decorated the store so well, you always feel very welcomed and want to stay a while.  It is very well organized and all the great items are displayed so well that you can't decide where to start once you walk in.  The Brass Owl is that boutique that was missing in Astoria and I am happy they are here to fill the void.

Holiday Party Lace

BCBG lace dress Astoria in heels

Its Holiday Potluck time again!  I have been throwing a holiday potluck for over the last ten years and I am so happy that I have been able to keep the tradition going.  It is great having everyone come over and bring their favorite dish to share.  I enjoy gathering friends from all over together and being festive.  Christmas is my favorite holiday and putting up the tree, baking cookies, and drinking bubbly with friends are part of what the holidays are about.  The weather was incredible this year and I was actually outside without a jacket in December!  We also incorporated a White Elephant gift exchange into the potluck this year and everyone had a great time "stealing" gifts from one another.  Surprisingly, the hot item was the tupperware....who would have thought!

Since I was hosting and knew I would be doing a lot of running around, I wore this lace dress that is stretchy and comfortable.  It is not constricting and fits well to my body.  Lace is always great for the holidays and black was a safe color to wear since I would be handling a lot of food.  I wore low Club Monaco heels and straightened my hair for a low fuss evening.  The night was a success and now I am looking forward to heading to Miami for Christmas.  Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Mirina Collections Necklace

Mirina collections

My Mirina Collections necklace is an instant outfit transformer.  It will dress up a simple tee or a simple dress like it did for me with this navy zipper dress from H&M.  It may look massive but it is not heavy at all.  It is actually quite comfortable.  They have a large variety of these layered necklaces and multiple pieces can be stacked to create an even bigger look.  Now you can get 20% any necklace from their site, Mirina Collections, with the code 'astoria20'.

I wore all solid colors to make sure this necklace stand out.  To keep my legs warm on this fall day, my over the knee boots did the trick and my Zara coat that I purchased last spring ties all the color combinations together.

Holiday Gala

astoria in heels snowcoming

Happy Holidays!  I love long gowns and I pulled this one all the way from the back of my closet.  The last time I wore this dress was for a friends wedding but I went to a holiday gala this past Friday for the VHI Save the Music foundation and I was excited to wear this again.  It was an opportunity to get dolled up and head over to the New York Public Libary.  This was my first gala and I had a great time.  For the holidays, a long dress is always appropriate as well.  It is elegant and comfortable in this fall weather.

I kept my makeup simple and let the print on the dress make the statement.  I wore Ben Amun drop earrings and a small silver clutch.
I pulled my hair into a simple ponytail which I adorned with a strand of jewels.  Holidays are fun to dress up for and I am looking forward to doing this again next year!

Uniqlo in Red

Uniqlo Merino sweater Astoria in heels

Welcome to December!  The days are brisker but as long as the sun is out, you can find me outside.  The Socrates Sculpture park in Astoria is a great spot to walk to on the weekend.  It is a nice sized park that has art exhibits throughout  the year.  It is great for a day with the family or a quick stroll along the water.  You will also find a great view of midtown NYC.

With these chilly days, I am happy to have this Uniqlo Merino sweater.  I am a huge fan of Uniqlo and how they have created clothing items designed specifically to keep you warmer than your usual coat and sweater.  Red is my go to color this holiday season.  It pairs well with these pants that have a light checkered pattern.  I tied this scarf, that I've had for some time, around my neck as my accessory piece.  This outfit is perfect for work and going out.  Versatility is always a priority for me.  I am counting down the days until Christmas and you will probably see me in more red to come!

Ted Baker Leather leggings

Astoria in Heels leather leggings

I found the perfect leggings and you can't get me out of them!  I bought these front leather panel leggings from Ted Baker and I have worn them every weekend so far.  Even though it has been warm, these are still comfy and perfect for fall.  This time that I wore these pants, I met up with a close friend for brunch in Soho and paired these pants with an over-sized sweater from one of my favorite local boutiques in Astoria, Hanger.  I just bought these maroon booties from JustFab and the cutout makes them standout from all other booties I am used to seeing.  The color is even nicer in person than what I expected when I purchased them online.  This outfit was casual enough for brunch but also fun and perfect for catching up with a good friend.

I kept my accessories simple with this black clutch and my starfish from Amrita Singh.  Remember this from last month, well it will be on heavy rotation all through fall.  Also, I wore these leggings again recently for a birthday party and I just changed up the top, switching to an all black sweater and faux fur vest.  I plan to find many more ways to style these pants!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving New York outfit Astoria New York

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  I hope each of you are enjoying a fabulous meal of turkey, gravy and all the sides with family and friends.  I am spending it here in NY with my husbands family and there is so much food...I love it!  My aunt wakes up at 4 in the morning to get everything ready.  I can't even image how she does it all!  The food is always superb and having everything together is always a great time.

There is so much for me to be thankful for.  My health and my family's health are number one!  Knowing everyone is doing well and that I get to spend every day with my favorite person in the world, my husband, makes me very thankful.  I love fashion and styling and that is what prompted this blog.  It is one of my passions and I am so thankful for how far it has come but I know that it is doing so well because of the support I get from my husband.  He helps me with everything I do, encourages me to do better, gives me great advice, and is one of my biggest fashion critics!  I am thankful not just today, but everyday, for him!  He is my rock and support and my biggest cheerleader!

What are you most thankful for?

Uniqlo Plaid Coat

Uniqlo fall call Astoria In Heels

The leaves have fallen and the air outside is crisp.  Fall is in full swing and I haven't enjoyed it more than this year.  I am settled into my new apartment, finally with a job I am happy about and loving married life.  This Autumn is mine and I'm enjoying it fully.  I am always exploring the neighborhood and this season is no different.  Strolling through scenic Astoria Park, frolicking among the leaves, and just enjoying the serenity are my current weekend pastimes.

I enjoy these weekends even more with my new Uniqlo coat.  I don't own many plaid pieces but I quickly jumped on the opportunity to own this one.  All of my coats are solid colors so I am very pleased to finally add something different to my coat closet.  I have been wearing this nonstop since these neutral plaid colors go with practically everything.  It is great for work as well as for a night out.  This week, I paired it with my office attire made up of Theory slacks, a pink Equipment blouse and my Amrita Singh Rock Star Pendant which is currently on sale now for 50% off on their site.  My new fall coat makes me very happy!  What is your favorite fall purchase right now?
