White Lace Dress

white lace dress bcbg dress max azria

I love white dresses.  When my wedding was approaching, I think I bought every white dress I could find.  I figured I would definitely have a use for all of them especially with all the showers and dinners associated with the wedding.  And, of course, I felt I should wear white to each one.  Now all those events have passed and I have a closet full of white dresses.  So last weekend, when I had my cousin's baby shower to attend, I was so excited to pull out this cute lace number to celebrate her future baby girl.

I originally wore this BCBG dress for my rehearsal brunch but added this pink H&M blazer and matching Just Fab shoes to match the girl theme of the baby shower and also because I just love pink!  Since it was also freezing that day, I wore light pink tights to keep my legs warm.  Black tights are too harsh a contrast with light colored dresses and I found that these went perfectly and blended well with this dress.   The peplum waist is adorable and stops just short of going all the way around the dress.  This entire outfit is so feminine and girly.  The best part is shopping my closet and finding uses for my white dresses!  Now if I just had three more baby showers to go to...

Pink Trench

Its 3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep!  We are working on year end reports at my job and I have been working 14-16 hour days which only leaves me about only 8 hours in my day which are spent sleeping.  I put in the extra hours during the week to keep me from having to go in to the office on the weekend.  The weekends are my only free time and I don't want to lose those!  During the week, I don't have anytime to do anything.  I am falling behind in my posts and the dark under eye circles are setting in. The worse part is that it is Friday night and I just can't sleep, my mind is racing with all the things I need to get accomplished, at work and at home.  I really did not expect these hours when I started this new position in April of last year and I still have not gotten used to it.   It is really starting to take a toll on me.

Since I am up, I figured I could use this time to catch up on my blog!  My weekends are sacred to me and this is the time I get to spend with my husband and just unwind.  Last weekend, I kept things simple in all black with a pop of color with my pink trench.  Pink is my favorite color so when I saw this coat at Express many years ago, I knew it had to be in my closet!   This may not be my warmest coat but I am well prepared.  I don't go anywhere without wearing my Uniqlo heattech leggings and tops.  They are thin and fit under my jeans and blouse and keep me so warm.  I never found jeans to be very helpful in keeping my legs warm in the winter but these leggings keep me from freezing.

You can never go wrong with a pair of black jeans.  This waxed pair from 7 For All Mankind are in heavy rotation this season.  I have found over the years that 7 jeans fit me the best so I try not t0 stray too often from them.  I paired it with a classic black Theory button down and Club Monaco black pumps.  The chevron print on this clutch is what really made the outfit to me.  It broke up the monotony of all the solid colors and became the focal point of the entire outfit.  Sometimes, keeping it simple is the best way to go!

C.R.E.A.M

marciano trench marciano jacket beige trenchcoat

Who doesn't love a cute beanie???  It has been so cold and the worse part for me is when my ears are cold.  I have to have them covered at all times.  I just feel ten degrees warmer when they are warm.  In addition, of course, a warm coat is a must.  I actually purchased this cream trench many years ago in Miami, of all places.  I know its strange that I bought a trench in Miami, but I got extremely lucky.  The store couldn't get rid of them and ended up putting them on sale since no one needed to purchase one down there.  It was so drastically reduced, I bought this for $20!!!  I love when I get a deal!

I have a tendancy to wear a lot of dark colors so its nice to brighten it up every now and then.  In keeping with the neutral color pallette, I wore a beige sweater layered over a black polka dot peplum top. The pattern on the blouse just barely peeks out and breaks up the monotony between the sweater and coat. The back of the jacket has the cutest crochet detail as well. These all go well with my cropped jeans from 7 for all Mankind and these booties I purchased from JustFab.  They may be high but they are so comfortable.  I have had such great luck with purchasing shoes at Just Fab, they are always cute and painless!

It doesn't look like it is getting warm anytime soon so I will have to keep bundling up.  Hope everyone is staying warm!
