Zara Floral Shorts

Zara highwaisted shorts and tank

This summer has been hot and I am loving it.  This past weekend I spent Saturday participating in a few of the great activities Astoria has to offer.  The Smorgasburg in Brooklyn opened a smaller venue in Long Island City with around 20 different food vendors.  They had everything from Balinese skewers to Caribbean sandwiches.  I am so happy they brought this to the neighborhood, it gives me a chance to try so many different cuisines in the same place and for a great price.  In addition to going there, I went to the MoMa PS1 Warm Up party.  They host DJ'ed parties on Saturdays in the summer in their courtyard and it was packed!  It basically felt like a huge party in my backyard!  This was a great summer Saturday spent with friends and family.

With all the walking I did this weekend, these cotton highwaisted floral shorts from Zara kept me cool and comfortable.  The high waist also helped when it came to all the food I was eating at Smorgasburg!  I paired it with a Zara tank and you know I had to wear heels.  These pink Michael Kors sandals were my punch of color for my outfit along with my turquoise clutch.
My necklace is from Rocksbox and you will soon see two other outfits that I styled it with.  Shorts are essential for summer style and I've made sure to get as much wear out of theses this season as possible!

Summer Wedding in Ottawa

H&M dress aldo accessories

My little cousin got married in a beautiful ceremony in the cutest church in Ottawa.  It was very intimate and personal.  Families from both sides were in attendance and there was so much love in the air.  It was a great feeling and I am so happy I was able to help celebrate their love.

Originally, I had something else in mind to wear but with so many things going on this summer with me changing jobs, us moving to a new place, I never tried the dress on until a few days before leaving town.  Low and behold, my first or second option didn't quite fit the way I remembered it fitting.  I purchased this jacquard patterned dress from H&M with the intention of wearing it to the family dinner the night before the wedding.  Literally two days before, I ended up going to the mall in Ottawa and bought new accessories for this dress so that I could wear it to the wedding.  I found this chunky statement necklace and matching earrings at Aldo and borrowed this studded clutch from my sister in law.  The accessories, this H&M dress and my studded peep toe heels created the perfect wedding look.  Looking forward to see the other ways I will be able to style this dress!

Sightseeing and HM

H&M dress

I visited Ottawa a few weeks ago to attend my cousins wedding.  That was my first time in Ottawa and I was so blown away by its beauty and its friendly people.  Also, my brother in law lives in Ottawa and we stayed with him which gave me an opportunity to get to know my new sister in law.  We all had such a great time with each other.  It is the best feeling to meet someone who you instantly feel has always been a part of your family.

So most months out of the year, Ottawa is probably freezing.  This August though, the weather was perfect.  It was sunny and warm with a nice calm breeze at night.  It was not humid at all.  The neighborhoods are so adorable and everyone is so friendly.  Ottawa is Canada's capital and there is much history there.  It reminded me of a miniature Montreal.  We spent the first day there sightseeing in downtown Ottawa.  We saw the Parliament building and the Rideau Canal, to name a few.  I knew we would be out all day so I chose to wear something lightweight and simple.  This H&M dress is easy to throw on and makes a big statement with its butterfly sleeves.  I wore an Amrita Singh statement necklace to bring out the yellow flowers in the print.  Since I would be walking all day, my comfortable JustFab sandals were perfect for this trip.  This outfit I put together was simple but functional and practical for an easy going vacation.

Sleep No More

sleep no more

Like I said before, I'm am so into this romper rage!  I like the casual shorts romper, long pants jumpsuit and now this flowy, dress-like romper.  Its fun, its sexy, and its playful.  I wore it to go out one night to attend the Sleep No More show.  Sleep No More is an interactive theater experience that allows you to choose how you enjoy it.  Its very different from anything I have ever seen before.  You do spend a lot of time walking from floor to floor to view the various performers.  Luckily for me, my JustFab strappy heels are very comfortable.  I didn't know to much about the show but it was great knowing that these shoes wouldn't stop me from enjoying it.  What I love more than heels are extremely comfortable heels!!!

Zara's Playful Prints

Zara dress

I am enjoying this summer season to the fullest.  I've started my new job and everything is on the up and up.  I recently went to my aunt's home for a family get together and had more plates than I should have of good old traditional home cooking.  Why stop at seconds when you can have thirds and then another two rounds of dessert.  Yes, I overdid it and I loved it!  Right after though, I went to the city to celebrate a friend's birthday.  It was a full day of family and friends and I love when your outfit take you from day to night with no changes!

This cute little number is from Zara and quite affordable as well at $39.99.  This dress worked well for both my day and night events.  This is another fun dress, as I like to call them.  The colors are vibrant and there is also a small slit in the back towards the top.  I chose to go with pink Michael Kors shoes but it is limitless what you can pair this dress with.  Threw on a few accessories and my day was set.  Dressing for two very different events was surprisingly easier than expected.
